Historical Information: Four Presidents Award
Alfred Davis is a retired faculty member and former vice president who has been associated with RIT for over 65 years. His inspiration for the idea of the award came to him from CIA Director George Tenet’s call for public service during his commencement address in the spring of 2002. Davis served the community with four RIT presidents: Mark Ellingson, Paul Miller, Richard Rose, and Albert Simone. The Four Presidents Award is given annually to a faculty or staff member of RIT
whose public service and commitment mirrors that of the four presidents. The recipient can designate their award endowment to a beneficiary of their choice. The first recipient of the award was Dr. Fred Smith, who began his service at RIT in 1971 and has played an active role in many Rochester organizations.
