The TRIPOD Educational Model School (TRIPOD) program was started in 1982 as a method of teaching both deaf and hearing students together in a classroom using both sign language and voice. Alan and Vicki Hurwitz were both employed at National Technical School for the Deaf (NTID) for many years. In 2013, they left to work at Gallaudet University.
