Scope and Contents

The Frederick Wiedman Jr. collection of Presidential papers contains 39 paper documents signed by each United States President from George Washington to George H.W. Bush. Ranging from the personal to the official, the papers touch on a variety of topics. There are a number of letters as well as more unusual documents like shipping and custom receipts.

Biographical / Historical

The collection was assembled by Frederick Wiedman Jr., a long-time Rochester attorney and supporter of RIT. He established the Frederick and Anna B. Wiedman Professorship in Imaging Science in recognition of his parents in 1985 and joined the RIT Board of Trustees in 1986. Upon his death in 1995, he bequeathed the major portion of his assets to the university to directly support educational programs. This collection of presidential signatures was part of his bequeath.
