Gallery R collection

Supported by Rochester Institute of Technology, Gallery R opened in 1999. It is an off-campus student managed art gallery administered by the School of Art of the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. The gallery maintains a selected collection of student and alumni artwork for on-site consignment and sales. It serves as an educational laboratory site and visual arts venue for all RIT College of Imaging Arts and Sciences students. Formerly located at 775 Park Avenue, Gallery r will open its new location at 100 College Avenue in the Fall of 2011.

In 2014, a collection containing seven signature poems by various poets featured in the Gallery r exhibit "Words and Images". Each poster is 24” by 36”, oversized, and printed in black ink on white. Words and Images was a showcase of invitational film artists and Signatures magazine writers and artists. Signatures is an RIT publication, housed in the English department and supported by the Institute Creative Arts Fund, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, the B. Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, and Student Government. These posters were used in the exhibit.

Curator for the show was Professor John Roche, Language and Literature Department at RIT’s College of Liberal Arts, who is also faculty advisor of Signatures.
