Collection Scope and Content Note

The Eric Senna papers document the development and installation of, and publicity about, the bronze RIT Bengal Tiger statue on RIT’s Henrietta campus. The majority of the collection is dated between 1989-1990.

The Eric Senna papers are arranged in one series, which has been divided into two subseries. The physical materials are housed in one full-size archival document box and one half-size archival document box.

Biographical Note

Eric Senna graduated from RIT with his B.S. in Management in 1991. While at RIT, he served as Vice President for Student Government and spearheaded the campaign for the RIT Bengal Tiger statue to be created and installed on campus. Senna worked alongside Dr. Fred W. Smith, then Vice President of Student Affairs, to establish the RIT Tiger Spirit Leadership Award and related endowed fund. Senna also served as Director of Club Affairs and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity during his time at RIT.

Senna has worked in the insurance industry for more than 25 years. Since 2024, he is Vice President of Sales at Lightspeed Specialty Insurance Solutions in Walnut Creek, California. As an RIT alumnus, Senna was a past chapter lead for the Los Angeles Regional Alumni Chapter and now serves on the Alumni Association Board.

Abstract

The Eric Senna papers document the development and installation of, and publicity about, the bronze RIT Bengal Tiger statue made by sculptor D.H.S. (“Duff”) Wehle for RIT. Materials include planning papers, correspondence, speech drafts, news clippings, photographs, and more. The bulk of the collection dates between 1989 and 1990.

Custodial History

The Eric Senna papers were acquired by the RIT Archives in November 2024 from Eric Senna as a gift of Eric Senna. The materials were accessioned under Accession #2024:084 and received by the RIT Archives as one binder and one plastic case.
