Deaf -- Social life and customs

This collection contains documentation of a 2003 memorial service held at NTID for Clayton Valli, deaf linguist and ASL poet. Both photographs and a video document the memorial.

Deaf history newspaper clippings focus on the education of the Deaf at the turn of the twentieth century, mainly in New York State. Also included are obituaries and articles on notable Deaf persons.

The Deaf Rochester News collection contains meeting minutes, correspondence, administrative documents, and photographs related to the Deaf Rochester News and Deaf community of Rochester. Records range from 1984 to circa 2000’s.

The Harry Lang collection on Edmund Booth consists of Lang's research files used in writing his book, Edmund Booth: Deaf Pioneer.

The John Panara collection on Robert and Shirley Panara includes photographs, correspondence and local news articles collected by the Panara family and used in an NTID exhibit on Robert Panara from 2014.

A collection of Deaf poetry videotapes, dvds, and digital documents containing lectures, performances, and interviews documenting ASL (American Sign Languagae) poetry. The materials were gathered while conducting research for Heart of The Hydrogen Jukebox, a documentary film by Miriam Lerner about ASL poetry.

NTID promotional ephemera includes cups, paperweights, buttons, and other artifacts related to National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Set of three cds of interviews created for the StoryCorps project. StoryCorps is a nonprofit oral history project dedicated to documenting the lives of Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs.

The Wendy Dannels collection on FIRST Robotics contains items and documents collected by Dannels pertaining to the Rochester School for the Deaf's 2009-2010 FIRST Robotics competition team, RoboComm-X (Team 3162). Items include documents dating from 2009-2010 about the FIRST Robotics competition.
