Biographical / Historical
Dangerous Signs is a Deaf/hearing multi-cultural performance group that builds community through the use of American Sign Language (ASL), poetry, spoken English, music, dance, mime, storytelling and humor. Artistic interaction with students, teachers, and the local community promote learning and diversity in the greater Rochester area.
The group has performed at the Rochester College Theater Festival and at the Rochester Fringe Festival, among other venues.
One of the founding members of the group, Timothy Holmes died in 2014. Joseph Fox, a theater production assistant at NTID compared Timothy to Robert F. Panara, RIT’s first deaf professor, who passed away in 2014: "the legacies they have left behind, their love of theater and willingness to bridge the gap between the hearing and deaf cultures are just some of many similarities."
