Biographical / Historical

The Baptist Student Union (BSU) was a Christian club for both deaf and hearing students. Its mission was to enable students – both deaf and hearing – to take an active part spiritually and socially on the RIT campus by providing weekly Bible Study, prayer meetings, community services, special planned events, and participation in Sunday worship services in the local community. Their mission also included serving under the Baptist Convention of New York, the Southern Baptist Convention, and to work closely with Browncroft Baptist Church.

Sally Taylor was the director of BSU, as well as a distinguished former student. She not only helped plan, develop, and execute club events, but also spent her time contacting and inviting several people outside of the RIT campus to meet with the group.
