Scope and Contents
This collection contains photocopies of syllabi from various classes in the College of Liberal Arts. The syllabi range in dates from 1984 to 2012 and were donated by the Dean’s Office of RIT’s College of Liberal Arts. Subjects include the history of Russia, modern European history, fine arts, philosophy, visual arts, film, and music.

Biographical / Historical
Formal courses in the humanities and social sciences appeared early in the university curriculum. Prior to World War I, courses were offered in English, sociology, psychology, history of education, public speaking, educational sociology, and pedagogy. The College of General Studies was formed in 1961 and renamed the College of Liberal Arts in 1982. The syllabi were gathered by the College of Liberal Arts Dean's office.
