Scope and Contents

The film is narrated by Stanley McKenzie, professor of literature at RIT for many years before being named provost and vice president for Academic Affairs in 1994. McKenzie takes the audience from RIT's beginning in 1829 through the additions of the Gordon Field House and the Saunders College of Business.

The purpose of the film was to orient new faculty members at the most recent European campus to their parent university.

Biographical / Historical

Rochester Institute of Technology’s College of Applied Science and Technology launched the American University in Kosovo, located in Pristina. Classes, instructed in English primarily by American faculty, began Oct. 6, 2003 for the inaugural class of about 70 freshmen. Studies focused on business, economics, computers and the application of management and technology in overcoming business development, economic and manufacturing challenges in a area that had seen war and ethic strife for a number of years.

American University in Kosovo was founded to support Kosovo and its neighboring countries to develop their economies, societies and democratic institutions, by providing undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs in the English language. It is Kosov's only institution of higher education awarding American degrees.
