Scope and Contents

The collection on Allen Vogel was donated by Doris and Karl Fishman as a representation of Mr. Vogel's professional career in advertising photography. It contains tear sheets from the 1960's, promotional mailers, awards and exhibit catalogs of Allen's work. Mr. Vogel was a faculty member at the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at RIT.

Biographical / Historical

Allen Vogel was an associate professor with the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology. His career began in the 1960’s, the time period of the tear sheets. The tear sheets were important to show prospective clients that art directors and designers trust you to be reliable, creative, and to deliver the job on time. Allen Vogel has worked with dozens of advertisement agencies and major corporations, including Bulova, Chrysler, Coca- Cola, General Foods, IBM, Max Factor and Pepsi-Cola.

Overview

The collection contains 12 folders of various tear sheets separated by topic including flooring, food, beverages, etc. Mr. Vogel used them to create his portfolio of work early in his career. Also included are exhibit catalogs and awards pertaining to Mr. Vogel's photography.
