 Collection — Box: 1
Identifier: RITArc-0455

Scope and Contents

This commemorative tile was given to attendees of the Center for Excellence in Mathematics, Science, and Technology dedication. The granite tile measures 3.5 inches square, and is engraved with the formula known as Euler's identity (eπi + 1=0). The physical explanation of Euler's identity is that it can be viewed as the group-theoretical definition of pi. The date of the dedication is also carved into the stone July 16, 1998.

There is one copy of the invitation, and two copies of the official dedication program which gives background information on the Gosnell family and the James family, the speakers, and donors.
