Scope and Contents

Strategic Planning records 2005-2015 contains various documents including a list of goals, letters, memos, identified areas of issues at RIT to be used and addressed in the plan, task force preliminary and final reports, and a collection of feedback from students, faculty, and staff. Also included are several drafts of the Category of One University,and documents related to A Call for Action. There is one CD that contains electronic copies of the documents that exist in the collection, along with additional materials.

Biographical / Historical

In September 1992, President Albert J. Simone addressed the importance of having an institute-wide strategic plan which led to Strategic Planning Steering Committee and ten task forces. The result was the ten years strategic plan, Learning and Careers 2004: The Strategic Plan at Rochester Institute of Technology. RIT Strategic Planning 2005-2015 was developed for the next ten years.

In 2004, President Albert J. Simone, faculty, and staff across the campus got together, gathered information, and formed five new task force teams to provide updated drafts and preliminary and final reports. The result was The Category of One University: Uniquely Blending Academic Programs with Experiential Learning for Student Success. When William W. Destler was appointed the new RIT President in 2007, the strategic plan was modified to include his vision, and now it is referred as Imagine RIT.

RIT Strategic Planning 2005-2015 collection
