Scope and Contents

The blue and gray pieces appear to be from around 1950's-1960's. Jim Modrak wrestled from 1953-1955.

The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) wrestling uniforms collection contains the following items:

Biographical / Historical

Wrestling began at Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanical Institute in 1927. Mark Ellingson was the first coach and he later became President of the Institute. Coach Earl Fuller, who began coaching in 1948, lead the wrestling team until 1994.

Many pieces of the uniform have tags in them that read garments are from Ruby's Sporting Goods, Rochester, NY.

Overview

The RIT wrestling uniforms consists of 19 pieces of uniforms collected from different time periods. There are robes, shorts, jerseys, pants, shoes, head gear, and travel bag used by members of the men's wrestling teams.

Arrangement

The collection is arranged in numerical order. Box 1 contains pieces 1-4, Box 2 contains pieces 5-10, Box 3 contains pieces 11-14, 16-19. Piece 15, the travel bag is shelved next to the boxes on C.S. Shelf 91.
