Biography

In 2014, the GLBT Center was replaced by the Q Center, an LGBTQIA+ community resource center and student lounge that was located on the A-level of the Student Alumni Union (SAU). The name of the Q Center was proposed by students in Carol Fillip's Collaborative Design (GRDE-401) class, who also designed its logo and branding.

Dr. Chris H. Hinesley, the Assistant Director for the Center for Campus Life - LGBTQIA+ Programs and Outreach from 2011 until their retirement in August 2024, was the inaugural Director of the Q Center and is credited with its growth as a campus resource. In 2023, the Q Center combined with the Center for Women and Gender into the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Resource Center (WGSRC), which is located on the second floor of Campus Center.
