Textile fabrics

Materials related to Bertha E. Butts, dressmaking student in the Department of Household Arts and Science at the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute in 1904. The collection includes a sewing sample scrapbook and dress made for class.

Materials belonging to Blanche A. Phillips and Dorothy J. Walls. Both women graduated from the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (renamed Rochester Institute of Technology in 1944). The collection includes textile cards, pamphlets, and other published material.

The collection consists of a hand made hanging quilt, titled Red Dawn@2007. The artist, Jane Goode was a 1974 RIT Art & Design graduate.

Karl Laurell woven fabric collection consists of a length of hand woven flaz fabric. Laurell was on the faculty in the School for American Crafts at RIT from 1953-1957.
