The collection consists of twenty-six letterform studies, poems, and designs for book title pages, spine titles, and a dust jacket rendered in pencil and ink on paper by German calligrapher Hermann Zapf. Also present are two early sketches for his typefaces Melior and Optima, and seven printed sheets of alphabets.
