Overview
Google Design is a division of Google Inc. that "is a cooperative effort led by a group of designers, writers, and developers at Google. We work across teams to create content and produce events that showcase Google’s design work and champion innovators in our field."
Google Material is a subdivision that focuses on user experience design. Many items in this 2017 promotional box collection relate to a design conference called "SP-AN" that was jointly held in Tokyo and Los Angeles in 2016. This conference was dedicated to "exploring the ways in which design and technology shape our everyday lives." Of note are type specimens issued by Google Fonts, a division started in 2010.
