Scope and Contents
The Paintings for West Virginia Pulp and Paper were made by Thomas Maitland Cleland for the West Virginia Pulp & Paper Company, manufacturers of Westvaco mill brand papers, for use in their advertising campaigns and annual calendars. The paintings, titled Industry and Export, were later owned by Melbert B. and Mary Flagler Cary. Industry appeared on the paper company's 1934 calendar. The painting titles are Industry and Export.
