Scope and Contents

Papers collected by David Pierce from his involvement as an instructor at National Technical Institute of the Deaf (NTID), as a member of the National Advisory Group (NAG), and President of the NTID Alumni Association. These papers include correspondence, alumni newsletters, meeting minutes, by-laws and financial reports of the NTID Alumni Association from 1992-2003. Records of the NAG include correspondence, reports, meeting summaries from 1998-2004, and some general NTID correspondence of David Pierce, NTID annual report 2000, NTID student/faculty/staff directory, 2000/2001 and an issue of the NTID Focus magazine from 1995 containing an article written by David Pierce.

Biographical / Historical

In accordance with the Education of the Deaf Act, the National Advisory Group is appointed to advise the President of NTID "...in formulating and carrying out the basic policies governing [NTID’s] establishment and operation, which group shall include individual who are professionally concerned with education and technical training at the postsecondary school level, persons who are professionally concerned with activities relating to education and training of individuals who are deaf, and members of the public familiar with the need for services provided by NTID.
