Scope and Contents

The Michael Furman photographs contain four prints of classic automobiles from the exhibition, "Automobiles: Photographs by Michael Furman" held in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences Gallery in March - April 2011.

Biographical Information: Michael Furman

Photographer Michael Furman attended and studied photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology and received a degree in Fine Arts in 1974. After graduation he opened a studio in Philadelphia, PA, and worked with advertising and corporate clients. Furman’s specialty is with studio lighting of class cars. He also works with race cars, motorcycles, and concept cars.

Michael is a founding board member and creative director of the national car show, Radnor Hunt Concours d'Elegance. He is also the creative director at UBS Motor Cars Under the Stars, a benefit for United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia, which he helped found in 2004.

Overview

Four oversize photographs from the "Automobiles: Photographs by Michael Furman" exhibition held March 17 - April 7, 2011 in RIT's SPAS Gallery. Selected photographs were donated by the photographer, an alum of Rochester Institute of Technology(RIT). Furman's specialty is in studio lighting of classic cars. Cars represented in these photographs taken between 2004-2009 are a 1911 Hispano-Suiza, a 1947 Delahaye 135MS, a 1936 Bugatti and a 1932 Chrysler Imperial.

Physical Description

Three of the four photographs are black-and-white and measure 28.5 x 22.5 inches, one is in color and measures 28 x 28.
