RIT College Activities Board papers
Scope and Contents
The majority of the posters date from the late 2000s, specifically 2010-2015 and include FUN, Young the Giant, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis concerts, Rochester Chip Fest, Spring Fest, and comedian shows such as Joel McHale, John Oliver, and Bo Burnham.
Posters in this collection dating from the late 1990's include calendar of events posters, Emanon Festival, and a Wyclef Jean musical performance. Also within the posters are a group of caricature drawings of people by an artist who was probably at Freezefest and possibly Spring Fest, based on the dates.
The collection of slides depict events hosted by CAB for students. Some examples are: concerts, Halloween party, hypnotist, Buffalo Bills game, performing arts, cinema arts, travel, and ballet. None of the slides are identified or dated, although they probably date from the 1980's.
The collection also contains photographs of various celebrities that visited and performed on campus as well as events hosted by the College Activities Board. Some photographs include the personnel of the CAB.

Biographical / Historical
The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) College Union Board was formed during the 1960s. In 1966, the RIT Board of Trustees and Student Council approved a constitution and set of by-laws for the organization. According to its constitution, the purpose of the group was to, "...promote better recreational, social, cultural, and educational services for the college community." The group planned to achieve its stated purpose by overseeing the newly constructed College Alumni Union. The Union was to be run by 200 students, independent of the college's administration.
The group changed its name to the College Activities Board (C.A.B.) for the 1978-1979 school year. Currently, C.A.B. is still a part of RIT's campus. CAB is a student-run organization that serves as the coordinating body for all major RIT student activities and programs. The mission of CAB is to provide a diverse assortment of entertaining and engaging events that enrich the RIT student experience. CAB is comprised of seven divisions, each responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of specific programming initiatives. The seven divisions are Friday Night Live, Late Night Events, Major Events, Recreation and Travel, Senior Events, Special Events and Thursday Night Cinema.
