Scope and Contents

The Eleanor Mundy Mechanics Institute pin, diploma and yearbooks collection contains two Ramikin yearbooks from 1930 and 1931. Both yearbooks have Mundy's signature on the inside cover as well as handwritten notes throughout the yearbook from her peers. This collection also includes Mundy's RAMI freshman pin that has her name and expected date of graduation written in shorthand, '32 as in 1932. Also included is correspondence from Mundy's daughter Nancy Powell, the donor. Lastly, is her official RAMI diploma for Interior Decoration from 1932. It measures approximately 17 x 13 inches and has the original blue and gray (school colors) still wrapped around it.

Biographical / Historical

Eleanor Mary Mundy (d. 1990s) lived in the 19th Ward of Rochester at 78 Colgate St. Her family consisted of her mother Clara Belle Leete Mundy, father Arthur Dean Mundy, her older sister Marjorie Leete Mundy, and Eleanor Mary Mundy. In 1934 Eleanor married Richard Whitman Anderson, of Churchville and later Rochester, NY. They had three daughters, the youngest is Nancy Powell who donated the items in this collection.

Eleanor was an Interior Decoration student at the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (RAMI) from 1930-1932. While at RAMI, she was involved in Art League, tennis, and golf.

Eleanor Mary Mundy was an Interior Decoration student at the Mechanics Institute from 1930-1932. Nancy Powell, daughter of Eleanor Mary Mundy, donated this collection in October 2015.
