Biographical / Historical
The RIT Student Television Systems (STS) was a closed circuit television station recognized as a Student Association organization. STS had limited affiliation with C.B.S. Television Network, Video Tape Network, Public Broadcast System, and other services. They produced and imported a variety of programs. These productions fell into the following categories: education features, entertainment, news and information, special events and experimental television and film. STS was carried on channel 6 of the cable system on campus which covered all dormitories floor lounges, academic and non-academic buildings, and was interconnected with NTID's distribution system.
STS offered students first-hand experience in the operations of a television station and, many of its different and unusal aspects, such as business management, personnel training, planning and development, producing and directing, video and audio engineering, computer programming and hands on experience with some of the latest in television equipment. Their office was located in the basement level of the College-Alumni Union.
