The collection on fraternities and sororities includes materials related to individual organizations at RIT’s downtown and Henrietta campuses. Please note: The materials in this collection were largely accumulated by administrative departments and not transferred to the RIT Archives directly by the original organization. Some of the fraternities or sororities referenced within this collection were never installed or chartered on the RIT campus, but rather their associated documentation was maintained for reference purposes.

Historical Information: RIT Greek organizations

Greek organizations have been a part of the RIT campus from the years of the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (RAMI) campus and downtown RIT campus to the present. Currently RIT has more than 30 organizations overseen by one of the following governing councils: College Panhellenic Council, Inter-fraternity Council, National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, and National Pan-Hellenic Council.

Abstract

Materials related to individual Greek organizations within the Greek community at RIT from 1935-2012. The collection includes constitutions, minutes, correspondence, event information, newsletters, alumni directories, and assorted promotional materials pertaining to specific organizations at RIT.

The materials in this collection were largely accumulated by administrative departments and not transferred to the RIT Archives directly by the original organization. Some of the fraternities or sororities referenced within this collection were never installed or chartered on the RIT campus, but rather their associated documentation was maintained for reference purposes.
