Scope and Contents
The Gamma Epsilon Tau records and photographs consists of oversize composite photographs of fraternity members from 1994-95, 1995-96, 1997-98, 1999-2000, 2000-01, 2001-2002, 2002-2003, and 2004-2005, small composites for 1967-1968 and some 8" x 10" photographs.
The records document the beginning of Gamma Epsilon Tau at RIT in 1955 and continue to the present. This includes versions of their constitution, histories of the organization, an application for charter, and a list of the original members in 1955. Also included in the collection are correspondence, membership lists, newsclippings, the GET-zette newletter, pledging information, calendars, a scrapbook, budget prooposals, and meeting minutes for 1980-1983, 1992-93 and composite photographs of members. Ephemera from projects the organization was involved in include Margaret's House Young Artists calendars from 2004 and 2006 and a spring banquet program from 2006. There are also sixteen pledging paddles.

Historical Information: Gamma Epsilon Tau
Gamma Epsilon Tau (GET) is an academic and social organization that provides graphic arts students with networking opportunities among peers and alumni. GET has been at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) since 1955 and is based in the School of Media Arts and Sciences. Members career paths include Graphic Design, Media Arts and Technology, New Media Design and IT, Visual Media and Photography, and other College of Imaging Arts and Sciences (CIAS) areas of study. Some of the projects worked on throughout the year include: The GETzette magazine, posters, community service, and social media. Members have the opportunity to go on many tours and hear various speakers related to the Graphic Arts. GET is a very close group that fosters a family-like environment while remaining a professional organization. Gamma Epsilon Tau (GET) is the National Graphic Arts Honors Co-ed Fraternity.
The name Gamma Epsilon Tau comes from the ancient Greek language. Translated, Gamma means letter, literature, or alphabet; Epsilon, science or knowledge; and Tau, art or craft. Hence, Gamma Epsilon Tau stands for "The Science or knowledge of the art and craft of letters."
