Historical Information: RIT Energy Policy
The Institute Energy Policy was formed in attempt to manage and reduce the rising costs of energy used by the RIT community. It was hoped that by 1985, the amount of energy consumption from the time the policy was enacted would be reduced by 20%. The Wallace Library director, Gary D. Macmillan voiced concerns soon after he received the energy policy memorandum to the administration that the policy could negatively impact the conservation of library materials. This debate is documented by correspondence.
