Scope and Contents

The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) band uniform and flag collection consists of the six pieces of clothing that make up the band member's uniform. A long sleeve, v-neck polyester shirt has an orange collar, one brown sleeve, one white sleeve, diagonal stripes down the front and an orange elastic waist. A white dickie velcros around the neck. The brown polyester pants have an orange stripe going down each leg.

A brown and orange flag on a metal pole accompanies the uniform. The flag measures 32 x 28 inches.

Biographical / Historical

The RIT Band was formed in 1969. Dave Greso was the first band President, and Dale Shepfer was the first director. The band was formed to play at hockey and basketball games in addition to a few concerts throughout the year. The band purchased 60 uniforms and different instruments initally.

Overview

The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) band uniform is six pieces that make up the uniform: a shirt with a dickie, pants, a beret, and two white rubber shoes. The uniform is made of polyester and is orange, brown and white. The beret is orange wool. The marching band flag is brown and orange nylon.

Arrangement

The six pieces of the uniform are contained in one box together. The marching band flag is stored separately.
