Historical Information: RIT United Way campaign

As one of Rochester’s major employers, RIT takes great pride in community involvement, and in particular, in its award-winning employee workplace campaign. For more than two decades, RIT employees have shown their compassion and support for people in need by giving generously through RIT’s United Way Campaign.

An annual workplace charitable giving campaign provides an opportunity for employees to be involved in supporting their community. By giving co-workers the option of pledging through payroll deduction, they are empowered with the ability to help dozens of agencies by spreading out their donation throughout the year. Because employee contributions can be directed to specific agencies, donors often feel a stronger bond with the organizations they support. These links between companies, people and local organizations define our community.

United Way of Greater Rochester creates long-lasting community change by addressing the underlying causes of the most significant local issues. Common focus areas include helping children and youth achieve their potential, promoting financial stability and independence, and improving people’s health.
