The Charles G. Edwards papers consist of materials related to Edwards time as a student at the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute. This includes five course books, test reports from 1936-1937, and a chemistry notebook with worksheets, lab notes, and exams. Additionally, the collection contains a notebook with notes from a professional engineering course offered by the University of Rochester's Division of Engineering during the 1950s.

Biographical / Historical

Charles G. Edwards (1916-2006) was born on May 21, 1916. Originally from West Pawlet, VT, he graduated from the mechanical engineering program in the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute's School of Industrial Arts in 1937. Edwards paid for his courses by working at the Eastman Kodak Company for 40 cents an hour. An article was published in the May 1, 2004 issue of the RIT News & Events and in the Fall 2004 University Magazine in honor of Edwards' grandson's graduation. His grandson, David Fuehrer, represented the fourth generation of family members to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology. Charles Edwards died on July 3, 2006.

Papers of Charles G. Edwards who graduated from the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (RAMI) in 1937. The collection includes test reports, course books, and miscellaneous printed material during the years Edwards was at RAMI.

Materials are contained in three boxes. Because the collection originally contained bound volumes, items originally bound together are housed in the same folder.
