RIT sports jerseys and emblem
Scope and Contents
The RIT sports jerseys and emblem collection contains three items; a Mechanics Insititute (MI) cheerleader's emblem which has blue and gray MI lettering with a blue megaphone behind it. These emblems were usually given to participants of a sport and sewn on a jacket. Jersey 1 is an RIT men's basketball jersey from the 1960's-1970's period. It is white with orange and brown lettering and trim. One the front is
Tigers #42 and #42 on the back. Jersey 2 is dark brown short-sleeved mesh jersey with #30 in orange lettering on the front, back and sleeves. It is unknown which sport this would have been worn for, but possibly thought to be a practice jersey for football.

Biographical / Historical
Rochester Institute of Technology was called the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (RAMI) prior to 1944. Often RAMI was called simply Mechanics Institute or MI. The cheerleader's emblem would have been used just before the name change based on the fact that the donor graduated in 1943. Also, the emblem is blue and gray which were the official school colors prior to the current orange and brown. The MI was located in downtown Rochester.
The two jerseys were from RIT sports played on the Henrietta campus. The teams are known as the Tigers and the official colors are brown and orange.
1.34 Linear Feet (Oversize box)
