The Rochester Institute of Technology's (RIT) Freshman Council was formed in the fall of 1963. According to the group's constitution, the purpose of the organization was to:

Promote organization and spirit in the Freshman class

Train members in leadership

Provide representation of the Freshman class on Senate and to inform the Freshman.
