Scope and Contents
The Frances Smallwood Wadsworth collection on Mechanics' Institute Dietician training contains three photographs of Smallwood Wadsworth, and one biographical sheet filled out for the Bureau of Educational Service, Teachers College, Columbia University.
Two photographs are portraits, one of which was probably taken later, possibly when Smallwood Wadsworth worked at New York University. One photograph was taken, according to Frances Smallwood Wadsworth's granddaughter: "in the kitchen of the Mechanics Institute somewhere between 1905 and 1907. It is of 13 young women, each at a food prep station, wearing their (I guess) official uniform of long dress, full white apron and organdy cap. It is 8x10."
The biographical sheet lists Smallwood Wadsworth's time at the Mechanics' Institute from 1905-1907 where she studied to be a dietician.

Biographical information on Frances Smallwood Wadsworth
From Frances Smallwood Wadsworth's granddaughter: "She was from Warsaw, NY. She trained to be a dietician [at the Mechanics Institute] and went on to run the food service at NYU in New York. I also have her educational records. I think it might be of interest to show a type of professional career for which young women in Western Ny were training. She was very proud of having gone to the Mechanics Institute and made life long friends while she was there."
