Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

This subseries contains materials that document Tripod’s aggressive fundraising efforts including movie premieres of captioned films, annual campaigns, and fundraising events, many of which were attended by celebrities. Tripod also received support from Former President Bill Clinton, Former President George W. Bush, and other politicians in honor of annual luncheon fundraisers. Of special note is the invitation and script for The Big Chill (box 31) which was the first film captioned – it was expensive and the captions were burned into the print. According to Megan Williams, the captioned and uncaptioned films were shown simultaneously. GLAD (Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness) protested to move the showing so the invitation is incorrect, the film was only shown in the first location listed.

Materials include newsletter(s), articles, printed material, brochures, correspondence, fliers, reports, donation lists, notes, income statements, forms, booklet, contribution envelopes, pledge cards, transparency, invoices, programs, invitations, drawings, press releases, tickets, trivia questionnaire, receipts, signs, photographs, negatives, floppy disks, CDs, zip disk, books, and contact sheets.
