The Ken Hiebert collection is divided into four series. Series I. Biographical contains resume and CVs, correspondence, and his own education in the Basel School. Series II. Overview
To preserve documents that clarify a progression leading to and ensuing from appointment to
start a pioneering program in graphic design at the University of the Arts (then Philadelphia
College of Art) in 1966. Key facets of the perception-based and essentially non-verbal graphic
design program of the Basel School of Design (then called Allgemeine Gewerbeschule Basel)
were integrated with the liberal arts approach to BFA education at this independent arts
